Fairtrade is so much more than improving trading conditions, and we see the impact of our standards ripple through other parts of people’s lives. Think about it—trade affects income, income affects what you do, how you navigate the world, how you live and how you support people in your life.

Global presence

Where do we work?

We work directly with farmers and workers all around the world. That includes countries in Africa, Asia and Asia Pacific, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Since we are focused on agriculture and small-scale farmers, many of the nearly two million people we work with are living in remote rural areas that are often tropical. This looks a bit different from the rolling wheat fields you might associate with farming in the US—crops like coffee grow best in the mountains. Our expertise is leveraging trade relations to better living and working conditions. Therefore, we work in countries that typically do not have the infrastructure, support systems or safety nets in place to fully support farmers and workers.
